Origins, Genetics, History
Bubba Kush is the offspring of the unmatchable OG Kush and an unknown Afghani strain or Northern Lights strain. Its history is not fully known. It seems to have appeared first in the California area. A California breeder, named Bubba, obtained an unknown Indica strain of marijuana in New Orleans. It may have been Northern Lights or an Afghani, based on the properties of the offspring. This Indica was pollinated by OG Kush, creating a powerful almost purely Indica strain henceforth named after the enterprising “Bubba”, called Bubba Kush. It came out in California around 1996 and has remained popular and even entered the medical scene as a strain which is very useful medicinally. It’s like a version of OG Kush that is better for medicine than for recreation, but with the same power.
Appearance and Smell
The Bubba Kush plant grows to be quite short, stalky, and bulky. Its leaves are a solid green to light purple, with bright orange pistils and covered in icy trichomes. So thick are the trichomes, some claim this is how it got its name, because it was so sticky with cannabinoid-rich trichomes, it was like bubble gum, hence, Bubba Kush. The purple buds are surrounded by orange-brown hairs, showing this to be a compact plant, that packs a lot of nutrients into a small space.
How to Grow Bubba Kush Cannabis Seeds or Cuttings
Growing weed from Bubba Kush cannabis seeds and cuttings is said to be of medium difficulty. The highest output comes from a hydroponic growing arrangement. Bubba Kush needs a warm, dry environment. Soils can be enriched with Flower Power Fertilizer.
Growing indoors, Bubba Kush cannabis will be ready for harvest in eight to nine weeks. The Bubba Kush strain grown indoors can be expected to yield about 15 ounces per meter squared. It is a short, stalky plant of great medicinal value.
If you want to grow Bubba Kush marijuana outdoors, Bubba Kush should be grown in a dry, sunny area, in a spring-time environment. It will yield 20 ounces of great pot per plant.
Medicinal Marijuana Review
Bubba Kush tends to have medium to high THC levels, topping out at about 22 percent. Some strains are said to be 100% Indica. This gives it a great ability to relax your mind and body, while maintaining the potency of its parent, OG Kush. This relaxation is useful in musculoskeletal conditions of chronic pain, such as arthritis, back pain, sciatica, neck pain, muscle cramps, muscle spasms, fibromyalgia, polymyositis, and other conditions. It can also be useful in conditions of neuropathic pain such as shingles, caused by the chicken pox virus. Peripheral neuropathy from diabetes may be treated with marijuana as well, and neuropathy caused by multiple sclerosis may also respond favorably. Marijuana, besides blocking pain signals, also has an anti-inflammatory effect that dials down inflammatory autoimmune reactions in the immune system.
Bubba Kush bud’s capacity to induce great relaxation may also be useful in mental disorders that exhibit hyperactivity such as ADD, and ADHD. It will not improve focus but will relieve the motor agitation of these conditions, so is best taken at night when the client is ready to wind down. It may help the anxious person relax, thus improving conditions of anxiety and depression such as Major Depression, Dysthymia, Social Phobia, and Generalized Anxiety Disorder.
Bubba Kush cannabis is a great choice to treat nausea of various causes such as from chemotherapy for cancers or autoimmune conditions, or Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome or other forms of dysautonomia that exhibit nausea or cyclical vomiting.
Bubba Kush pot can induce the condition called the munchies, or greatly increased appetite. This can be a great respite to those who need to ingest sufficient calories and nutrients but who have a lack of appetite for known or unknown reasons. It has been suggested as a treatment for anorexia as it can both increase appetite and decrease the inhibitions causing the person to be afraid to consume food.
Bubba Kush weed is infamous for inducing sleep and makes a great treatment for insomnia. In fact, it is often recommended that this bud be consumed only during night time as there is a great likelihood you will fall asleep after using this strain of weed.
